# Data & deletion

You can delete single artifacts or your whole account. Deletion takes effect immediately, and the data is removed permanently after 30 days.

## Deleting an artifact

The owner can delete an artifact from the app or by asking the agent to call `delete_artifact`. The artifact disappears from every list at once, its links stop working, and it no longer counts toward your plan.

After 30 days it is removed for good: its content, comments, questions, versions, files and uploaded assets. There is no undo in the app, so restore a [version](/docs/versions) instead of deleting when you only want to go back.

## Deleting your account

1. Open **Account** in the app and choose **Delete account**.
2. Type your email address to confirm and request a code. We email a six-digit code to your account address.
3. Enter the code.

Your account and artifacts are closed immediately and permanently deleted after 30 days. At once you are signed out, all your tokens are revoked, your share links stop working and your subscription is canceled. After 30 days everything is deleted, including assets you uploaded to other people's artifacts. A deleted account cannot sign in again; once it is removed, the same email can create a new account.

## What may remain

- Comments you wrote on other people's artifacts may remain, with your name as text.
- Your acceptance of the sales contracts is kept, as the law requires.
- Payment records are kept by Stripe under its own retention rules.
- Database backups are kept for up to 30 days.
